APRIL UPDATE

4/1/2017

Many people have been asking me what is going on at the Power House.  Although, renovations have been paused things are still happening behind the scenes. Community members are continuing to be informed of the Power House, donations continue, our check-in computer system has been purchased, and the organization structure is growing.

In February we had our first fundraiser "Powering Up for Power House." This event was a concert with Steve Snyder, Matt Zacharias, and Jody Graffunder.  We had a wonderful turn-out and with the offerings and silent auction we raised $7,000.00!  Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event.  I continue to stand in awe of our Great God and how He continues to provide.  Someone came up to me at the concert and said "This (meaning people gathering together from across the denominations) doesn't happen in Rusk County. What a great thing."  Power House is already building community and our doors are not even open!

Power House was awarded a $300 grant from Rusk County Community Foundation. A huge "thank-you" to donors Jack and Jackie Pederson who made this grant possible.  We also received two Endowment Fund Grants one for $490 from Hope Lutheran Church and one for $1,874 from First Church of Christ. Thank you to each of these churches and families who made these grants possible.

In February and March, we had several community organizations donate their time for a work day.  CCF Bank brought their 5 staff members for an afternoon of work. They worked so hard and well together.  I enjoyed hearing all the laughter and conversation as we worked.  In March, the students from the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Discipleship Training School (DTS) came and we had a prayer time together for our community and Power House and then got some projects done as well.  Thank you to everyone who participated in these work days.

In the last update, I mentioned that a local Ladysmith High School art student designed and drew a mural for the entrance to the Power House.  I am pleased to announce that Dennis Wiemer, another gracious community member, worked long and hard to paint the mural on the walls.  It looks fantastic and will be a wonderful welcome to our students as they enter the building.  Thank-you Hazel and Dennis for your contributions to the center.

Thanks to Ladysmith High School welding class and teacher Mr. Doug Dieckman we have the sign that will eventually hang outside.  The next step is to have the sign fabricated and painted.

1. Mail a check to Power House 622 1st Street South Ladysmith, WI 54848, in the memo please include "Bathroom Project."
2. On our website powerhouseladysmith.com. In the comments include "Bathroom Project"
3. Pampered Chef fundraiser

Please feel free to pass this letter on to friends and family that you feel would be interested in hearing about Power House and seeing our progress.

Thank you to everyone for all the prayers, hard work, and donations! This is a community endeavor and I am proud to be on this journey with everyone.

Sincerely,
